Bay Medical Group is very pleased to have secured support from HEE NW to offer 2 posts under the Post CCT Fellowship Programme.
The posts at this Practice, paid over 10 sessions (there may be opportunity for a 0.8 FTE post) will provide the successful applicants with the opportunity to work in new and developing services, alongside usual GP work and CPD:
There will be opportunities to develop more specific skills in education (working with medical students), management and leadership or a clinical area and the final timetable will be discussed on appointment.
Medical defence costs will be covered by the Practice for the duration of the post.
Visiting service and Urgent care role
The post holder will be working with the newly formed visiting service alongside paramedics, nurse practitioners, physician associates and other GPs’. This will be mainly providing continuity and a visiting service to those who are too ill to attend the surgery.
Our aim is to support the nursing and residential homes to use the service more effectively to provide timely medication reviews and continuity of visiting.
The post holder will help to develop the service, supervise and work with other professionals and develop IT systems.
GP practice role
For 4 sessions (2 days) per week the post holder will work as part of a GP and practice team, undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, checking and signing off urgent and repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in an appropriate timescale, acute and chronic disease management.
Special interest role
The post holder will work for a day a week in a special interest. The post will be developed and delivered according to the needs and capacity of the specialist service but also very much according to the clinical capability and experience of the post holder. The post holder will have robust and adequate clinical supervision with the aim of facilitating a current or future GP with a portfolio.
Continuing professional development
The post holder will work alongside their clinical supervisors and leads in the various settings and all of this will be overseen by a defined BMG clinical supervisor. The supervisor and post holder will agree a series of learning objectives for the fellowship and over the year there will be regular meetings to review progress, identify any concerns or opportunities and generally ensure the post holder is getting as much as possible from this innovative and valuable learning opportunity.
The appraisal process of this fellowship will not replace any wider process as mandated by NHSE or any or relevant professional body.
The post holder will learn how to use a Post CCT portfolio and will receive advice about appraisal and revalidation.
Funding is provided as part of the HEE fellowship scheme to support this.
BAY MEDICAL GROUP:
Bay Medical Group has merged all the practices in Morecambe and now has about 54000 patients. We are committed to developing a wide team of people to look after our patients and develop the practice along the lines of the GP Five Year Forward View (FYFV).
We are innovative practice and in addition to all the usual practice staff and doctors we have
We are considering how Physician Associates can be an actively part of this diverse and growing skill mix.
We are currently working hard to develop links to third sector organisations.
We are a relatively young organisation and fortunate to have a wealth of individual skills and attributes in the team. Our aim is to provide excellent quality of care to our patients by developing our team and making the Practice a good place to work.
Our aims and objectives are well defined in our business plan and are based around the protection and sustainability of general practice in the Morecambe area.
BMG recognise the unprecedented pressures on the NHS workforce and GP is not at all immune. We understand the need to protect the workforce, make it inherently resilient and put it in such a position that it will be excellently placed to manage the demands and expectations of patients, NHS commissioners and NHS providers going forwards.
We understand the desire of many GPs to build a portfolio career covering varied interests but with GP at the heart, and we believe we can facilitate this by employing post CCT GP fellows to start them on that path.
We have an in practice education programme and First 5 group. The post holders will join these sessions which are run in protected time.
There will be ongoing opportunities to continue to work in the practice at the end of the fellowship.
Come join us:
The post is available to newly qualified GPs who are within 2 years completion of specialist training and have not as yet taken a substantive post. It will benefit recently qualified GPs by enabling them to work across the practice over the period of the fellowship, working with different teams and developing new services.
