RCS Notice - Terms Of Service

Bay Medical Group are the first practice in the Morecambe Bay area to trial the use of Rich Communication Services (RCS) alongside Short Message Service (SMS) for communication with patients.

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is an upgraded service for your phone's standard messaging app that uses your mobile data or Wi-Fi connection, rather than your mobile network signal like traditional SMS.

It offers new features such as:

  • Verified Sender ID (Bay Medical NoReply) with contact information and Logo
  • When a message has been read (read receipts)
  • Show preview of URL Links

When using RCS, your messages may be handled by your mobile network provider or a service like Google Messages. While personal RCS chats, particularly those between Google Messages users, are end-to-end encrypted by default for privacy, the level of encryption for Business RCS chats is encryption in transit only.

If RCS is unavailable, messages may be sent as standard SMS/MMS, which are less secure. You can manage your RCS settings within your phone's messaging application.

Patients can opt out of this services at any time by completing the Change of Contact Details Form or telephone 01524 235900
