How and when to obtain test results from the surgery
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.
Please do not ring any earlier as this will put added pressure on an already busy phone line.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your online services account
- phone on 01524 235 900 after 2pm
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate to, unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data.
Urgent welfare checks
Sometimes, blood test results taken during the day may come back later with findings that need urgent review. If this happens, you may be contacted by the Out of Hours GP service in the evening or overnight.
Please keep your phone nearby and switched on after having blood tests, and answer if you can.
This helps us speak to you promptly if important action is needed. In rare situations, if we cannot contact you and there is concern for your wellbeing, an urgent welfare check may be carried out.
